Security-event logging

This website may record a limited security event when a visitor attempts an action commonly used to inspect browser-delivered source, such as opening the context menu or using a recognised view-source or developer-tools keyboard shortcut.

The event may include the date and time, requested page, event type, server-observed IP address, browser user-agent, referrer, browser language, device platform, screen size and browser timezone. Location is not requested from your device. A country code is recorded only when it is already supplied by the hosting or content-delivery network.

Purpose and retention

Security-event data is used only to investigate abuse, understand repeated source-inspection attempts and protect the website. Logs are automatically limited to approximately 30 days. Email alerts are rate-limited to prevent notification abuse.

Important technical limitation

Web browsers must receive a site’s public HTML, CSS and JavaScript to display it. Interface restrictions can discourage casual copying, but they cannot make public browser code secret. Confidential logic, passwords and private credentials are therefore kept out of public files.
